On the morning of October 14, 2005, it was sunny. President Hu Jintao and Secretary of Central Committee, director of General Office of the Central Committee Wang Gang, accompanied by Jiangsu Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Governor Liang Baohua, Changzhou Municipal Party Secretary Fan Yanqing, Acting Mayor Wang Weicheng and Deputy Mayor Zhou Yayu, came to electromechanical college.
After the opening ceremony of the 10th national sports meeting in Nanjing, President Hu came to the college in Changzhou to implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Sessions of 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party. Firstly he visited the general arrangement of the Changzhou Post-secondary Educational Park. At 10:36, he arrived at the electromechanical college.
At the Abilix Intelligent Robot Innovation and Practice Workshop, President Hu watched the Robocup 4:4 practical training. When knowing that the college won the championship of this contest, he said excellent. At the arena, he discussed some technological problems with the coach Chen Xiaoyan.
He walked to Wu Yanyan and asked “What are these used for?” “These are mine removal robots. Their outlook and components are all made by ourselves. Our practical and creative ability are trained in training. This robot is combination of the knowledge we have learned. With the enhancement, we get prepared for the future.” President Hu asked:”Are these lines connected by yourselves? Can this rise and fall?” When getting the answer “Yes”, he nodded and said to other leaders:”This is beneficial to military.” “Go on with your jobs.” President encouraged Wu Yanyan and shook hands with her.
President Hu walked to the show stand of prizes and asked:”Which school does this belong to?” Chen Xiaoyan answered:”This belongs to Changzhou Electromechanical College. We have won the prize at national robotic contest twice.” President Hu nodded and smiled. At 10:53, having walked out of the practical training building, President Hu shook hands with the secretary of the party committee of the college Liu Mingxin and the dean Gao Genji. Secretary Liu said:”I express my greeting on behalf of our teachers and students.” President Hu said:” I have taken a look at your practical training room, it was outstanding.”
