The 11th xPartner Cup Concluded

The 11th xPartner Cup, hosted by CAAI, was held successfully at Xiamen Jimei University on November 14. There were totaling 12 events including robot football, fire-extinguishing, arena, etc. Since this year EXPO is a heated topic, a new event named robot at EXPO attracted more than 900 contestants of 300 teams from 23 provinces. The participants ranges from primary and secondary school students to postgraduate students. The coverage of xPartner Cup is the widest of China.

 

Some top scholars of robotics presented at the opening ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by member of CAAI and general manager of Shanghai PartnerX Robotics Co., Ltd. Mr. Fei Xufeng. Professor Sun Zengqi from Tsing Hua University and Wang Xiaowu from Central Electrified Education Hall delivered speeches at the ceremony and Professor Cai Zixing from Central South University announced curtain-up of the contest.

At the opening ceremony, China’s first self-developed and widely applied anti-terrorism explosive-handling robot appeared on stage and demonstrated the process of explosive-handling. It shew the most advanced robotic technology in China.

At the same time, the household educational robot was on display and appeared to outside world for the first time. It made a pledge representing all robots.

“Create the future” is theme of the contest, the host aimed to make the contest into “ Children’s robot festival and grand meeting of robot lovers.” Contestants were fully indulged in the contest and experienced the happiness of practice.
There were totaling 12 events of the contest, besides the 11 traditional events like football and fire-extinguishing, since the 2010 World Expo was successfully held in Shanghai, an event named Robot at World Expo was introduced. There were different halls and routes on map. Within a certain period of time, robots should go to each hall as tasks issued. The robot spending the least time was the winner. The event aimed to cultivate contestants’ planning and cooperative ability while enhancing the challenging and interest of the contest.

The new event “Robot at World Expo” attracted much attention.

 

Another special event was the international fire extinguishing contest. The winners will represent China to participate in the 18th Global Household Robot Fire-extinguishing Contest held in U.S.A in 2011.
Like previous contests, the “Future technology elite cultivation plan” was launched. Three students were selected and PartnerX robotics Co., Ltd. Granted them with 1000 Yuan subsidiary per person and provided university students with intern opportunity so that those who were eager to promote Chinese robotic development were able to realize their dreams.

Looking back on the xPartner Cup, after a decade of development, it has become the comprehensive robotic contest with the longest history, most events and largest scale.
